This is the Delord Armagnac X.O., recommended to Dan and me by one of the guys at our local liquor store.
I believe their web site may be here, though I don't see any bottles on that site that look like what I have.
The bottle is sealed with red wax, and is very difficult to open. There's a pull tab, but it doesn't do enough to break the seal. It's a built-in sobriety test. Dan had trouble getting it open when we first tried it, and I bought my own bottle in the next few days. It wounded me. I was bleeding from opening this bottle.
It couldn't have been more worth it. This armagnac is delicious.
The nose is floral and fruity - there's almost some hard candy in there. The flavour is airy and complex, and lies mostly in the nose. I taste nectar, honey crisp apples, and grapes.
I'm satisfied with very small amounts of this armagnac. I drink it neat, in tiny sips. A full shot is too much.
With water, the nose disappears and the taste moves to the center of the tongue. It's much less interesting that way.
